NAT HURST – Launceston Tornadoes
2007 All SEABL team member Natalie Hurst proved to all that she is going to be a force in the competition once again this season after a stellar performance on the weekend. After a sensational season with Canberra in the WNBL, Nat has moved to the Apple Isle and is playing the 2008 season with the Launceston Tornadoes. With 38pts @5 0%, 7rebs and 5ass Hurst helped the Tornadoes record a 76-70 victory against the visiting Kilsyth Lady Cobras and showed her new hometown supporters of her extreme skills she is capable of producing. Nat started the game at a blistering pace with 18pts in the opening quarter, and connected on six shots from behind the arc for the game. Hurst is the early favourite for Most Valuable Player honours at seasons end.
Other notable performances were;
- In her first SEABL game, US Import Crystal Coston recorded 26pts, 13rebs, 1ass, 3stls and 2blks for the Ballarat Lady Miners.
- Frankston Blues Kylie Jordan recorded 33pts@48%, 11rebs, 2ass and 3stls, but was the only shining light for her team as the Nunawading Spectres grabbed a 80-67 victory.
- Kilsyth Lady Cobras Sarah Parsons produced a rare Triple Double with 16pts, 13rebs and 11ass against NW Tasmania on Sunday afternoon. Sarah also recorded 8pts, 8rebs, and 4ass the previous night against Launceston.
