ROUND 8 PLAYER OF THE WEEK – SEABL WOMEN
NAT HURST – Launceston Tornadoes
Launceston Tornadoes remain undefeated in the competition this year, thanks largely to the efforts of prize off season recruit Nat Hurst. With a season high 41 points @ 44%, 4 rebounds, 2 assists including six three pointers, Hurst earns her third Player of the week recognition, and is firm favourite for the League Most Valuable Player award at seasons end.
Hurst started the game with 9pts in the opening quarter to help her team to a 19-21 first quarter, but with her team trailing 56-63 with a quarter to play, Nat moved into fifth gear and single-headedly won the game for her team. Hurst scored 21 of her teams 29 fourth quarter points, to personally outscore her opponents and help Launceston record a come from behind 85-77 victory. Hurst started the final quarter with eight consecutive points, and then connected on three consecutive triples mid way through the term to clinch the win.
Other notable performances were;
Michelle Musselwhite averaged 18pts, 8.5rebs and 3.5ass for the weekend and helped the Lady Miners to a successful 2-0 weekend and moved into fourth position on the ladder.
Lady Braves Gab Richards continues to dominate the competition, recording 17pts@57%, 12rebs and 3ass on Saturday night against Southern Districts.
Arriving back home in Australia last week, Kilsyth Cobras Desiree Glaubits recorded a near triple double in her first game this season with 14pts, 8rebs and 6ass against Albury/Wodonga on Saturday night.
17 year old Jessie Smith had her best game of the season with 21pts@50%, 12rebs and 3stls on Saturday night in the Lady Bandits lose to Kilsyth.
